how to Pack and ship a carburetor

Packing and Shipping a Carburetor:

***Please read before packing and shipping***

A carburetor is a precision component. How it is packed matters. If you have a carburetor-specific shipping box, use it. These boxes are designed to support the carburetor properly and prevent movement during transit. You must use a sturdy regular box and pack the carburetor correctly.

  1. Drain all fuel completely and allow the carburetor to air out.
  2. Wrap the entire carburetor tightly in plastic wrap or bag.
This protects against moisture and keeps small components from getting in your carburetor.
  3. Put a solid base of cardboard in the bottom of the box, put a tight layer of crunched paper then the wrapped carburetor on top of the base. Build a tight cardboard cradle all around the carburetor. Double support the corners and the ends. Cardboard should support the carburetor on all sides.  Take brown package paper or newspaper and pack in tight all around the carburetor.  Make sure there are no holes or any part of the carburetor that might push thru the box. There should be zero movement inside the box.

If the box rattles when shaken, it's not packed correctly.

Do not use:

  • Packing peanuts
  • Spray foam
  • Bubble wrap of any kind

These materials break apart, migrate into

     the carburetor, and cause contamination.

The peanuts and bubble wrap will break

which then the carburetor would not be

protected.

Inside the box, include:

  • Spec Sheet and payment if paying by check.
  • If paying electronically, then please use our "purchase now" feature on the custom build page
  • Use a trackable shipping service
  • Insurance is strongly recommended (Damage caused by improper packaging is usually not covered  by the shipping company.)

Please do not rely on memory or past builds. Do not assume we “already know.”  Please ask for our new shipping address.

Each carburetor is treated as its own build. Carburetors received without a completed spec sheet may be delayed until the required information is provided.

Final Reminder
Spec sheet/ payment in the box. Carburetor wrapped in plastic wrap. Cardboard and proper supplies. No movement. No bubble wrap.
No foam.

If your combo changed, your spec sheet needs to change too.
